similar to   PMDC ( Permanent Magnet DC motors )  only they have brushes removed .
Mechanical commutation as in brushed DC motor is replaced by equivalent electronic commutation (inverter circuit and rotor-position sensing element) circuit in DC brushless motor .

 

Power-to-weight ratio for an electric motor is calculated by dividing the peak power output of motor in KW by weight of motor in Kg
